Why does St. Gallen always come up? McCarrick was sent there after graduating Fordham Prep high school, by whom? Nonetheless, McCarrick became McCarrick there. Bergoglio was nominated by the St. Gallen Mafia, and now Leo IV appoints a flagrant heretic, Fr. Beat Grögli the bishop of St. Gallen?
For the record Cardinal McCarrick was a disciple of the pervert Francis Spellman, who was a disciple of the pervert William Henry O'Connell, who may have been a disciple of the pervert Cardinal Gibbons. This goes back a long way- and long before Vatican II.
They’re hyper focused on the beauty of the TLM. It’s been the topic of their lives for years losing it. Might be hard for them to shake. Will be hard to watch the disappointment if TLM remains suppressed. But also hard to watch the lack of compassion for other Catholics affected by the destruction of the Church. Borderline selfish behavior. I’m sure our underground brothers & sisters in China and those persecuted elsewhere are praying for Leo to fix it. They’ll see those who are standing up for Leo instead of them. You still must continue to shed light on the Truth good or bad, they’ll catch up once one of them catches on and cracks.
The TLM is the true Mass, and very important. But the Spiritual journey does not end attending the TLM and acting as though Pius XII was still Pope. The SPiritual Journey ends at the Foot of the Cross with devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
In the immortal words of Goldfinger to James Bond: "Mr Bond, they have a saying in Chicago: ‘Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it's enemy action.'"
As somebody who advocated caution about Leo (merely because two weeks isn't enough time to evaluate *any* pope). I'm glad you took on Kwasniewski. I'm so sick of traditionalists who see nothing but their own liturgical illusions and ignore broader issues on morality, consistency and credibility. It's nothing but an idol, just like modernism has its own idols (globalism, NO).
For too many traditionalists, it doesn't matter if a cleric or prelate sexually abuses the faithful, as long as he performs the TLM perfectly. That is a stench in the nostrils of a holy, righteous God! I don't know (or care) if Kwasniewski is in *that* camp. But Catholicism has to mean more than beautiful atmospherics if it's to mean anything at all.
Amen. We have a serious moral obligation to root out heresy and error, and the only way to do so is to shine a spotlight on it whether in Rome or the local chancery.
Louis Marie De Montfort faces severe opposition from Bishops and even former seminary professors. He always obeyed when kicked of an Diocese.. He never toned down his zeal though. he never gave up genuinely reaching out the peripheries with a crucifix in one hand and a rosary in the other. He did not opt for decorum.
From a certain perspective this is refreshing. Trad Inc is now telling on itself. The Taylor Marshalls and John Henry Westons are now telling on themselves. They want to cater to the Hopium of the whole Bells and Smells club. Most Trads do not want a True Restoration of Christendom. They want to be able to attend the True Mass and go to Confession while simultaneously indulging in all the perks of the New Sodom. They are superficial and they disgust me.
The mainline church eventually swallowed all the bilge being spewed by Pope Frantic. Now the mainline Trads are going to swallow the bilge spewed by Pope Provost.
This is diabolical deception, aided and abetted by those who want to pimp the current apostasy for profit, or indulge in the narcissistic orgy of social media- the Crown Jewel of CIA's Operation Mockingbird.
They Bells and Smells Club will all be herded into the SSPX, which will give them Crisis Lite- just undo Vatican II and restore the Mass. No Consecration of Russia, no devotion to the Immaculate Heart, no spirit of penance and self-abnegation. And certainly no recognition that the profound evil we see all around us might be a portent of the near advent of the empire of the Antichrist.
It is clear the Apostasy is entering a new and frightening phase.
In a way, Professor Kwasniewski is right. Our Catholic life at the local level must go on whether we have a brilliant and wonderful Pope or an inadequate and unsatisfying one. So, let us not fall into the error of hyper-papalism. The Pope is not the most important or the one indispensable person on the planet. Catholicism does not begin and end with the Pope.
You’re right that Catholic life must go on regardless of the pope’s merits. But we must avoid replacing one error with another; trivializing the papacy as if it doesn’t matter when it’s used to spread error. The See of Peter is not optional. It’s essential to the visible unity and doctrinal integrity of the Church. When the man occupying it uses that authority to canonize heretics, praise false religions, and empower enemies of Tradition, silence becomes complicity. Catholicism doesn’t begin and end with the pope, but it is safeguarded or scandalized by how the pope upholds (or betrays) the Deposit of Faith. We can’t fix Rome by ignoring it.
Thanks for your swift reply. I had not expected it. And, I do agree with the points you made in it. In truth, I am more conservative (if you want to use that word) than it would appear from my previous comment. I suppose I was guilty of minimizing the role and importance of the Pope, especially because I have been so annoyed these past thirteen years by Francis himself and by the way that so many people I know have been glorifying him, as if he were the only Pope who had ever existed or the only one who had ever spoken about God's love and mercy. Forgive me if I sound mean-spirited.
Oh, no ... Jesus promised **unfailing faith** to Peter and his successors! This is why we have to stop pretending that a heretic can be the pope! It's absolutely unexpected that the Church could have a crisis like this, but it's so obvious that it's happening that I can't believe people can't or won't see it. I've finally realized that the difference between me and my Catholic friends and relatives - who all truly want to be good Catholics - is that they believe we share Church membership with heretics and I know we cannot. Edward Pentin referred to it as "the modernist sector" in a recent article, as if the Church could possibly have a heretical wing to it! In a way it's devastating to realize what's happening but in a way it isn't, because recognizing that a heretic is not the pope helps Catholics to truly see what the crisis is. God is still in control. His Church still exists and we can find it in Tradition and in the True Mass and in the Sacraments. But God is clearly allowing this crisis and we have to recognize it for what it is or we won't have the true faith ourselves.
I agree. … Now what are we to do, exactly, except pray and continue to attend the TLM? They don’t listen to us, they suppress us, they exclude us. They may excommunicate us (again). The Church isn’t a democracy, unless you are a protected-class member and/or German. So? Big plan? What is it?
Chris, This is your Magnum Opus. Bravo. Spot on. Right on the money.
"There is no grace in silence when heresy has the microphone."
Brilliant quote, and a very well written article. Bravo!
Pax et Bonum.

Gibbons? What is your source for this claim?

TLM is a beautiful way of life and Mass experience.

Kyrie Elejson..
Very good article!

Thanks for your succinct factual presentation of the new swamp....a continuation of the old swamp.
I can't bring myself to dive too deep into what NO does without losing some of my patience.
SGG.org is my oasis in the desert at this point. Thank God for their missionary commitment to south Texas, a spiritual wasteland.
God Bless Pope Leo and his pontificate.
Paul IV would condemn acceptance of these heretics as Popes as the grossest absurdity, as do I.

I will continue to read my Latin missal despite what has changed. I like tradition.
