From AI diplomacy to elderly sentimentality, Leo XIV’s Jubilee Church preaches compassion without conversion, accompaniment without repentance, and salvation without the Cross.
Leo is merely Francis 2.0. Apparently, he was the designated heir, who Francis met with every Saturday for two hours to show him the ropes. Can you say “rigged election”?
What is Catholic? I can't think of anything that pope Leo has said that might not have been said by a leader from another religion, I can't think of anything "Catholic" except for the words of Holy Mass.
Then thinking about the anti church and how it would appear, I used to think that Catholics would lose the material goods of the Church, that there would be schism. Now I wonder if the anti church would still have valid Sacraments but just become the norm established over time of a Bono, D Lama, Mandela and so on nice religion.
St Pio or B Fulton Sheen said the anti church would be emptied of Divine content so that would indicate no valid sacraments.
Very deep, thought-provoking post, Chris! I'm no prophet, but it reminds me of a dream I had about 20-something years ago, a nightmare, really. I dreamt I was surrounded by priests who preached a Cross-less religion in flowery, very convincing language, proclaiming that Christ as our Savior never existed and there was no sin to repent of. The Catholic faith as I had been raised to believe (pre-VII) was only a myth and only this world was reality. I woke up sobbing. It took me awhile to realize it had only been a dream. That dream has always stuck with me. Now, as it becomes more and more apparent that most of our shepherds are wolves, all I can say is, "Welcome to my nightmare."
Reminded me of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Imagine [1971]. Most English-speaking priests would probably have heard that played over and over during their formative years.
Exactly right, Paul! I never thought of that but that's just how it was. Maybe John Lennon was a prophet? Anyway, I hope he found Christ before he died; I was told by someone who claimed to know that he did.
In an interview a couple of days prior to the conclave one of Leo's brothers told a journalist that the Vatican had called and told him that Leo was among the top three candidates. How can one know before an election even started? Talk about rigging an election.
How would the supposed journalist get the inclination to interview the brother of a random Cardinal that was on no one's short list? Was this in Chicago? Was the interview before the conclave, or did the brother of Leo XIV disclose his foreknowledge after the conclave?
“The Catholic tradition sees aging as a time of preparation for eternity. It’s the secular vision of aging that sees it as gentle decline, uplifted by vague feelings of hope and belonging. The Church’s historic role of preparing souls for death has been displaced by a pastoralism that reassures without convicting and consoles without converting.”
I’m very saddened to read this article which is very well written with much thought and wisdom. I as others, are very disappointed by Robert (Leo XIV) and his apparent absence of “Pastoral Shepherding” and having witnessed 63 years from Vatican II we will always remember our salvation is defined by Our Lords Passion and Suffering. October 13, 1884, Pope Leo XIII had a remarkable vision to which I wish would end. It’s additionally disheartening to read the behavior towards my age group, elderly how, “a Church that proposes no hard truths because it no longer believes in divine judgment, is divorced from Jesus. However, I’m encouraged by the very young (my grandchildren)who are seeking answers and grasping Jesus teachings that true salvation comes through the Cross. I thank God I remember before Vatican II. I want to give aid to the injured man on the side of the road.
This ape church seems all of a piece. I recently viewed a short video of the work of a Fr. Boyle, S.J., who works with the incarcerated population in Los Angeles. There was only helping people to get better, to get back out in the world, never a word about Jesus, sin, repentance, Confession, redemption, heaven or hell. It was disturbingly empty and weak.
Liberation theology to a tee. No personal sin, just social sin; no need for a savior, no cross, no redeeming suffering; doctrine thrown into the dump heap of history. Everyone goes to heaven and hell is empty. Have a nice day!
It's a 'modern anti-papal' project. A papacy employed to ruin souls is not a papacy. Things like Scripture can be co-opted for evil purposes, just like cassocks but not the Vicar of Christ. Prevost is not 'vicarious' to Christ; instead he is (obviously to any but the invincibly ignorant or willfully blind (vincibly ignorant)) vicarious to any number of 'global leaders' for whom emotive adjectives are weapons of manipulation.
Totally. I would go a step further and say that it's not only anti-papal, but anti-patriarchal. Up until recently, the papacy was a highly visible exemplar of a father, and the self-proclaimed god-king types view fathers as competition.
I can get an indulgence for visiting an elderly person? Yippee! I'm married to one, and I visit her all the time. Is there an extra indulgence for washing the dirty dishes here? And do I get an indulgence when I look at myself in the mirror?
I teach very part time in a Catholic school here, and the archdiocese requires employees to take a little on-line "training," one course which attempts to teach us not to engage in elder abuse, (something I learned at a very young age. Good grief -- lawyers and PR men run the Church.) After I took the goofy half-hour class a couple of years ago, I responded that they were abusing me in making me take the class, since I am elderly (and still kicking pretty well.)
The Catholic Church is looking more and more like an NGO re-thinking strategy to lead the way to the One World Religion - so water it all down to the lowest common denominator and it is JOB DONE NWO! I hope and pray for the grace to stay with the holy remnant. Tough times ahead.
The sodomites, freemasons, and satanists now exercise complete control. Unless someone can suggest a reason to believe otherwise.
Their rule is greatly strengthened by the understandable but ultimately paralyzing fear on the part of the faithful who fear schism above all. I would also need to be convinced we are not already living in schism -- the Church of the true faithful in opposition to the Church of the modernists.
Interesting to read what Cardinal George Pell (RiP) had to say in 2022 about the crucial tasks that would await Bergoglio's successor: “If there were no Roman correction of such heresy, the Church would be reduced to a loose federation of local Churches, holding different views, probably closer to an Anglican or Protestant model than an Orthodox model. An early priority of the next pope must be to remove and prevent such a threatening development, by requiring unity in essentials and not permitting unacceptable doctrinal differences. The morality of homosexual activity will be one such flash point.”
Exactly. The honeymoon has worn off, Leo is just another Francis, only cares about migrants and poofs. We just need some bishops with the cajones to split off already. This isn't going to get better with another papal election, which probably isn't for 20 years now anyway.

The "mystery of iniquity" intrigues me.

Brilliant. Write more about this!

I’m am rolling here! 🤣Thank you !
Does that mean I can get an indulgence by visiting myself since I'm an elderly person, too?
I hope so; I intend to do the same.

Excellent article! I agree wholeheartedly!!!
