I wish I could think and write about the Church with Chris Jackson’s insight. But I see through the lens of a Catholic engineer and businessman. No theology, philosophy or sociology anywhere on my resume. Where Chris clearly describes ecclesiastical slight-of-hand and papal dissembling, I read corrupt system processes and bad faith dealing. Dyslexia Te (not a typo) is Prevost’ (OK, Bergoglio’s) glossy, tri-fold, updated marketing brochure for… let’s call it “Poverty Inc.” Poverty Inc. is the 21st Century Catholic Church missionary enterprise. A wholly owned subsidiary of Big Governments Amalgamated. No more holy, humble priests and courageous sisters venturing bravely to the world’s poverty pockets to rescue souls. Nope. The new paradigm (corporate buzzword alert!) is attraction, not conversion. Free Stuff, not Eternal Salvation, brings in the restless and weary souls. The enterprise can only succeed by *growing* poverty, not conquering it. The Church… er.. Poverty Inc. applies the dysfunctional logic of government social programs, which are prohibited from solving actual social ills lest funding be reduced or revoked. Capital resources now come from governments and billionaire philanthropists, and to *their* ideological music the Church must dance, even as working class Catholics walk away from parishes in disgust. From these assumptions, we may draw a straight line from the Church’s wicked malfeasance directly to the world’s ills. Abortion? Catholic medical institutions closed or sold off. Violent crime and Unemployment? The Church receives a bounty for each illegal migrant it can process into its poorest dioceses, including unvetted criminals. Local citizens are forced out of their neighborhoods and jobs. Punitive taxation? Hey… Poverty Inc. is no charity you know… they don’t work for donuts and coffee. How can a diocese do the Lord’s work” without those annual $10M, $20M, $50M grants? But take heart. After the 2024 U.S. election, there was a glitch in the Poverty Inc matrix. The glitch’s name is Donald Trump. He and a thing called DOGE read the Poverty Inc articles of incorporation. And they’ve been caught red handed cooking the books. Oops. Gravy train derailed. Dyslexia Te is aimed at creating public pressure, even to the point of rigging up a sympathetic American pope, to reopen the American money faucets using the language of the Church, which is no longer Ecclesiastical Latin, but Post-conciliar argle bargle. Look for other marketing promotions for Gay Inc, Feminist Inc, and, last but not least, Climate Inc. The good news is that all business models eventually collapse with new times and circumstances. But the Founder, Jesus Christ Himself, promised that the Church will not. Take stock in that, and nothing else.

I do have to mention the nuclear family here - literally something God gave us to help support the poor especially yet seemingly also not something that Pope Leo thinks is of any importance when it is of critical importance. So much structural poverty comes from the collapse of the nuclear family and I’ve experienced this first hand in my own life and of the lives of people around me. Let us be honest though, Leo can’t talk about that because to do so would upset James Martin et el and we can’t have that now can we.
