“Pre–Vatican II Catholicism refused to speak that way because it refused to treat false worship as a harmless cultural variant. It refused to pretend the world’s religious plurality is a providential mosaic to be celebrated and managed rather than a wound that demands conversion. It insisted unity and peace cannot be purchased by lowering religion to whatever the modern world finds useful.”

Philip Howard, Earl of Arundel, convert (from Anglicanism to Catholicism) dies in the Tower after ten years imprisonment.

As he lay dying, he requested of Queen Elizabeth that he be allowed to see his wife and children. "Good Queen Bess" responded, "If he will but once attend the Protestant Service, he will not only see his wife and children, but be restored to his honors and estates with every mark of royal favor." The Earl replied, "Tell Her majesty, if my religion be the cause for which I suffer, sorry I am that I have but one life to lose."

Inscription cut into the wall of the Tower by Philip Howard:

"The more affliction we endure for Christ in this world, the more glory we shall obtain with Christ in the next. To be bound on account of sin is a disgrace; but to sustain the bonds of prison for Christ's sake is the greatest glory."

Found in “The Voice of the Trumpet: A Life of Bishop Richard Williamson” by Dr. David Allen White.

The Modern Church is full of carnival barkers and hucksters. Conmen, all of them. Three card monte and invisible ink are their sacraments. They fool only the faithless and their welcoming and accompaniment leads to the gates of Hell. I despise them in their effeminate weakness, and I rebuke them.
