I'm not really convinced that that's true, simply because I feel that Francis was necessary before Leo. It's unfortunate that Sheen, like almost everyone else at the time, did not perceive the V2 church as the counterfeit church he wrote about in 1948 in Communism and the Conscience of the West, Indianapolis: Bobbs-Merrill,1948, pp. 24-25). In his Autobiography, Treasure in Clay (San Francisco: Ignatius Press, 1993) Sheen dedicates a chapter to Vatican II, calling his attendance at the general meetings and plenary sessions “one of the great blessings the Lord bestowed on my life” (p. 281). He has only words of effusive praise for the Council “that opened the Church to the world,” a point he repeatedly emphasizes.
Commenting on the controversial Constitution Gaudium et spes, which opened the Church to the modern world, he calls it “a master stroke under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.”
One can somewhat see how this can happen, though, since Satan was allowed by God to have, as Leo XIII heard him ask in his 1884 traumatic mystical experience, "more power over those who will give themselves over to my service."

Such power, including over those in secular and even much of Catholic media, would make it harder for people even like Sheen to perceive Satan working through his agents John XXIII and Paul VI and later JPII.
At the Council, Sheen contributed to the passage of the Declaration on Religious Liberty, in which Fr. John Courtney Murray - an American Jesuit - played an important role supported by the American Bishops. Sheen applauded the Council Prelates because “they generally followed the American Bishops and their stress on religious liberty.” (ibid, p 293).
Better to quote the writings of Blessed Catherine Emmerich, concerning her visions of the counterfeit church, then Sheen's remarks over the same matter. Even if they are prescient. His enthusiasm for the VII Council, and negative views on the SSPX, do not sit well from our present vantage point.
We cannot accept the beatifications or canonizations of the V2 church, but Venerable Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824, whose visions inspired much of Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ) had seen in her visions a “counterfeit church of darkness” occupying Rome at some time in the future, in an era when she also saw the priest facing the people when saying Mass.

In the early Church, Masses were said in the vernacular languages of the time and place, starting with Aramaic for the earliest Palestinian Christians. As Christianity spread, the liturgical language shifted to Greek for much of the Roman world, and then eventually to Latin in the West. However, the Eastern rites of the Church continued to use their local languages like Syriac, Coptic, and Armenian.
It should be noted that the Eastern rites don't use modern vernacular but ancient, to prevent corruption of doctrine, as does Latin in the West. A modern, ever-evolving language is a breeding ground for doctrinal corruption, as we see in the Novus Ordo Liturgy. Popes is the past have written about the importance of the fixed Latin language for this reason & also as a unifying principle among Catholics worldwide.
In fact every religion, for good reason, uses a fixed ancient language to maintain precision of meaning and doctrine, i.e. except "Bible alone" Protestantism and the V2 counter-church.
When the Eastern rites first started using the vernacular, at the time it was their modern vernacular. It is currently the ancient vernacular because it has never been updated.
It never occurred to the Apostles to use an ancient language that most people could not understand, for the purpose of avoiding doctrinal corruption. The Apostles doubtlessly felt themselves and their successors quite capable of overcoming any future doctrinal corruption. The Apostles' concern was that the people in the congregation at Mass could understand what was being said.
The proper unifying principle among Catholics worldwide is to keep the doctrines of the faith handed down by the Apostles.

I'm not really convinced that that's true, simply because I feel that Francis was necessary before Leo. If Leo had appeared in 2013 and commenced all he's already done, there would have been a massive outcry and Catholic media (probably even from some not so traditional) would have gone on the attack as they did against Francis.
Instead, after 10 years of nastiness and confusion, Leo has taken over quite seamlessly and is welcomed with open arms, but to those who still keep the Faith and know what he's doing, he's not at all deceptive. He's doing everything openly in full view of the world, all religions, the press, Christians of all denominations and everyone calling themselves Catholic.
If anyone - at least Catholic - who knows what's going on is deceived, at this point it's self-deception. For me, the true deception happened pre-Francis. Just my opinion!!!

Yesterday I heard a podcast with Andrew Likoudis, who edited Faith in Crisis: Critical Dialogues in Catholic Traditionalism, Church Authority, and Reform. He said something I found extraordinary and disturbing. He discussed a tweet he had posted: if the pope said that Satan is the 4th member of the "Trinity," you would have to accept that, or you would not be truly Catholic. He said he had tweeted this as an extreme case, and, of course, "the pope would never say that." But at this point, can you be sure?
Jesus commanded us to love God with our whole mind. That means we have an obligation to use our minds to know the truth.
Papal authority exists to pass on to us Catholic truths, truths that could not be known through reason alone. But reason alone does suffice to discover contradictions to Catholic truths. When someone acting as a pope says something in contradiction of Church doctrine, it is right and proper for us to use our minds to recognize such a contradiction for what it is.
Papal authority does not exist to override the results of right reason applied to evidence.

Preach brother, your assessments are invaluable and the more you write the more you sound like a prophet. Im not afraid to say it, occasionally someone speaks and you know God has anointed that person to speak. You are providing something important.

What was it Pilate said to Jesus?: "What is truth?" (Jn 18:38). Jesus had just told Pilate: "You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice." (Jn 18:37). Leo must not have read that passage - or for that matter any passage of the Gospel. Jesus Christ is the entire Truth and His Church is imbued with Truth.
Jesus also told us: "I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will declare the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for He will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that He will take what is mine and declare it to you." (Jn 16: 12-15).
So, Leo is clearly wrong, wrong, wrong! The church he proposes, promotes and imposes is not the Church - if it is, then what the hell good is it? What's the point, why bother? The church he imagines totally lacks any supernatural sense - therein lies the problem. Leo's church is earthbound and not heaven bound. I believe in the One. Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church - the Church of Truth, the fullness of Truth, the Church of God. Benedictus Deus!
